We’re delighted to announce a meaningful new collaboration between Tellegacy and the Michigan State University (MSU) College of Nursing, set to commence this fall. This strategic partnership will bring a group of talented senior nursing students to one of our programs at Fox Run community,
in Novi, Michigan, creating impactful intergenerational connections and enhancing healthcare practices
for older adults.
Partnership Highlights
Clinical Rotation at Fox Run
Starting October 1st, 2025, a cohort of 8 senior-level nursing students from MSU will engage in their Public Health Nursing clinical rotations every Wednesday through November 19th, 2025, at the Fox Run community. Led by Dr. Conner-Warren, the clinical faculty and course coordinator at MSU, students will experience hands-on training tailored specifically to meet the unique healthcare needs of older adults in congregate settings.
Enhanced Learning and Engagement
The program will not only provide vital practical experience for students approaching graduation but also significantly benefit the Fox Run residents through dedicated care and meaningful social interactions. Nursing students will apply their knowledge directly to real-world situations, addressing critical public health issues such as social isolation, loneliness, age-friendly practices, and community health equity.
Why This Collaboration Matters
Addressing Social Isolation and Loneliness
Social isolation remains a significant risk factor for older adults, leading to negative physical and mental health outcomes. The students’ rotations at Fox Run will place a special focus on preventive care and meaningful engagement, aligning directly with Tellegacy’s mission to combat loneliness through intergenerational connections.
Enriching Age-Friendly Communities
This partnership exemplifies an age-friendly approach to healthcare education, promoting dignity, respect, and high-quality care for older adults. Students will learn not only clinical skills but also the importance of empathy, emotional intelligence, and person-centered care—skills critical to the future of healthcare delivery.
Building Future Healthcare Leaders
By integrating community-based, preventive healthcare practices into clinical education, we equip future nurses with the tools they need to advocate effectively for older adult populations. This initiative is a direct response to the growing need for healthcare professionals who understand and can navigate the complexities of aging and community wellness.
Looking Forward
As we approach this exciting chapter, our teams are preparing diligently, ensuring that onboarding processes, background checks, and all necessary administrative requirements are smoothly handled. Both Tellegacy and MSU are committed to providing a seamless and enriching experience for students and residents alike.
We are grateful to the leadership at MSU, particularly Janell Slavey and Dr. Conner-Warren, for their dedication and collaboration in making this partnership possible.
