We are thrilled to announce that the Tellegacy Program at Sonoma County’s Council on Aging has received a generous one-year, $90,000 grant from a Kaiser Permanente fund at The East Bay Community Foundation.
This critical support will ensure the continuation of our impactful initiative, Nourishing Connections: Well-Being Through Food and Friendship, including the highly regarded Tellegacy and Lunch Companion programs.
Starting August 1, 2025, this grant will empower Council on Aging to offer nutritious meals, meaningful social engagement, and
personalized legacy storytelling opportunities to homebound seniors in Sonoma County. These programs are essential tools in our ongoing efforts to combat social isolation, depression, and ageism—significant challenges faced by many older adults in multiple communities.
The Tellegacy program is known for its unique approach in facilitating meaningful conversations and lasting intergenerational friendships, while the Lunch Companion program pairs volunteers with seniors to share meals and create valuable connections. With county funding previously sustaining these programs no longer available, this support from the Kaiser Permanente fund at The East Bay Community Foundation comes at a crucial moment, ensuring continued emotional and nutritional well-being for our community’s seniors.
This Council on Aging expresses their deepest gratitude to the Kaiser Permanente fund at The East Bay Community Foundation for their thoughtful support and recognition of the importance of holistic, community-based solutions. Together, we continue to create meaningful opportunities for older adults to age with dignity, purpose, and profound human connection.
